The pianist recently released an album titled Chopin: Voyage of late Chopin works
Today’s Video of the Day is a performance of Chopin’s Sonata No 3 in B Minor, Op 68, 4th movement, by Yulianna Avdeeva. The pianist released an album on September 27 on Pentatone titled Chopin: Voyage, a collection of late Chopin works all composed while surrounded by nature.
Avdeeva won the Chopin Competition in 2010 and has a long history with Chopin. She recorded the works at the Tippet Rise Art centre in Montana, against the backdrop of the Beartooth Mountains, on Vladamir Horowitz personal piano.
Avdeeva said: 'The music of Chopin has a unique place in my soul. For me, it captures the subtlest nuances of the human experience; just like a leaf on a tree appears plain green at first, yet reveals a spectrum of hues when touched by the wind, Chopin’s compositions unveil layers of emotion and meaning with the unfolding of each note.'
Upcoming concerts include performing Bernstein's Age of Anxiety with the Minnesota Orchestra on October 18 and 19, a recital at Carnegie Hall on October 22 and a recital in Seattle at Benaroya Hall on October 27.
