The music video was filmed at Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium, London

Today’s Video of the Day is a performance of Joe Hisaishi’s ‘My Neighbour Totoro Suite’ by the Mela guitar quartet and arranged for the quartet by Daniel Bovey.

The quartet celebrate their tenth anniversary in 2025 and have a new album out on Friday 24 January titled Overtures & Dances. Featured on this album is their newly imagined ‘overture’ to Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli masterwork, My Neighbour Totoro. It weaves together a collection of themes from the film score composed by Joe Hisaishi, including The Village in May, Totoro, Evening Wind and Cat Bus.

Performed here amidst a host of furry friends at Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium, fans of the Mēla Guitar Quartet can enjoy the brand-new album performed live (sadly without cats!) at London’s Hoxton Hall on Friday 24 January at 7:30pm.

Book tickets for their Hoxton Hall performance here.
