The recording can be found on NCC’s album ‘Illumine’
Today’s Video of the Day is a performance of Eric Whitacre’s ‘Glow’ by the National Children’s Chorus of the United States. The recording was conducted by NCC Artistic Director Luke McEndarfer and in collaboration with the London Symphony Orchestra at AIR Studios in London.
The recording is featured on their album Illumine, which focuses on winter expressions of music from different countries and cultures around the world, performed by over 250 young singers. The album features renditions of contemporary works by Eric Whitacre, Anders Edenroth, and Ola Gjeilo; beloved traditional Spanish, Hebrew, Nigerian, and German songs, and four NCC commissions in Filipino, Hindi, Hebrew, and Spanish. The students recorded the album at Abbey Road Studios, AIR Studios, LSO St. Luke's, while on a summer tour of the U.K.
Eric Whitacre said: ‘The beauty of their performances and musical integrity is exceptional. Young voices have an extraordinary quality - a powerful emotional honesty…I am honoured that the NCC included a piece I wrote for Walt Disney World of Colour, Glow, on their album Illumine. I wish them every success.’
Through the National Children’s Chorus, over 1,100 young singers, ages 5-18, train in NCC’s chapter cities (Los Angeles, New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Austin, Dallas, Boston, and Chicago).
