The All-Star Orchestra begins their 6th season on American public television this October
Today’s Video of the Day is a performance of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony (Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op.78) by The All-Star Orchestra as part of their 6th season on American public television. French composer Camille Saint-Saëns created his Organ Symphony in 1886.
The All-Star Orchestra, led by Maestro Gerard Schwarz, presents symphonic scores and new works by today’s composers. The ensemble consists of principal players from several orchestras across the United States from Los Angeles to New York.
Now entering its second decade the series features performances and shares insights on the music. The series has won 9 Emmy awards, and highlights from the 2024 series include Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony, Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra, Chávez’ Sinfonía India and Joan Tower’s Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman.
Over 250 public television stations across the United States are planning to broadcast the new season of All-Star Orchestra programmes, beginning this month. The new season consists of four hour-long episodes broadcast nationwide on American Public Television starting in October 2024. The All-Star Orchestra series is distributed in partnership with Oregon Public Broadcasting.
