The track can be found on his new debut album ‘Driven’
Today’s Video of the Day is a performance of ‘Cadenza: Vivaldi meets Rachmaninoff’ by cellist Philipp Schupelius. The track comes from his debut album Driven, which was released with the GENUIN label earlier this month. For this release, Schupelius combines Rachmaninov's Cello Sonata in G minor with Vivaldi's Cello Concertos in B minor and A minor.
In this recording he performs the specially improvised cadenza ‘Vivaldi meets Rachmaninov.’ Schupelius said: ‘This improvisation brings both composers into a unique conversation that makes their dynamic power and shared enthusiasm for the beauty of life audible.’
The cellist also states: ‘Rachmaninov celebrates the beauty of life and was a bon vivant. Vivaldi's vitality is still palpable today. Both capture the gravity of life without being overwhelming - that inspires me! It's life, passion, earth and heaven in sound.’
