The new movie 'Maria' depicting the life of the iconic opera singer is out today

Today's Video of the Day is a performance of 'Vissi d'Arte' from Puccini's Tosca by Maria Callas at Covent Garden in 1964. For many opera lovers, Maria Callas and Tosca's Vissi d'Arte are inseparable. 'I lived for art; I lived for love' became her swansong, the perfect expression of her own triumphs and tragedies. Callas is the centre of Pablo Larraín's new movie 'Maria' which sees Angelina Jolie star as the iconic opera singer and follows the seven days before her death in 1977 Paris as she reflects on her life and career. The movie is out in UK cinemas today and you can also read Gramophone's interview with the director in January's My Music feature.
