Today’s Video of the Day is a performance by Liza Bec of their new single ‘The Roof’, the first single from their new album The End Times that comes out on 25 April through Bec’s own label BMV Records. Combining elements of jazz, classical and world music, the album was recorded live in Dolby Atmos at Real World Studios.

‘The Roof’ is described as ‘echoing an all too familiar feeling of slowly waking up to the sound of birds whilst the clatter of daytime springs up below you’.

The End Times is based on a book written by Bec that follows Rhian, a student at Oxford’s Corpus Christi College in an ‘apocalyptic coming of age tale’. It acts as a prequel to the composer’s serial fiction podcast Spiral Dial. The album also features a new electronic instrument built by Bec, the Roborecorder, which was on display at London’s Science Museum.
