Today’s Video of the Day is a performance of Ernest Chausson’s ‘Le temps des lilas’ by the collective i Giardini. Their first full-length album for PENTATONE released on 28 February takes the same name and finishes with this composition.

The album is described as an ode to Romanticism and the French chanson and is dedicated to the music of Chausson. The song ‘Le temps des lilas’ itself is a love song that according to i Giardini is about remembering happier times gone by, and a love that no longer exists. The performance in today’s Video of the Day is of an arrangement by one of the collective’s artistic directors, Pauline Buet, for cello and piano.

Other works featured on the album include Chausson’s Concert in D and Poème – both for violin, piano and string quartet – and Barbara’s song ‘Le temps du lilas’.
