Jesus College announces new Director of Music

Benjamin Sheen to replace Richard Pinel as Director of Music at Jesus College Cambridge from January 2023
Jesus College Cambridge has announced Benjamin Sheen as their new Director of Music from January 2023, succeeding Richard Pinel who has been appointed Director of Music at St Mary’s Bourne Street in London.
Having already enjoyed a distinguished career as an organist and conductor, Sheen currently holds the position of Sub-Organist at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, having previously spent seven years in New York, working at Saint Thomas Church on Fifth Avenue as Associate Organist.
His education combines being a chorister at St Paul’s Cathedral in London, followed by Eton College, Oxford University and the Julliard School. He is also prize-winning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists and the 2011 recipient of the Silver Medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
The Choir of Jesus College Cambridge have enjoyed recent recording success, partnering with the Britten Sinfonia for their recording of Grayson Ives' Requiem for Signum Classics which was described by Gramophone's Malcolm Riley as a ‘A treasure of a disc’.
Speaking of his appointment, Sheen commented: 'I am thrilled to be joining Jesus College as its next Music Director early next year.
