Former soloist in the Vienna Boys’ Choir, Arno Raunig has kept and developed his soprano voice with an easy range shown here up to top C. These recordings were made in 1989 since when he has created an unforgettable impression in Schnittke’s Faust opera (RCA, 7/96). An exceptional technique further distinguishes him, as does a fast vibrato: all are well sampled in Salieri’s fine cantata, Fremat Tyrannus. Good sound, but no texts.JBS
