Author:
Fraser employs a wide range of instrumental timbres: ''Heigh-Ho'', for example, finds Mozart in 'flute quartet' mode, while ''Colours of the Wind'' has Dvorak sorting among clippings from the New World Symphony but unable to focus his true style. ''Second Star to the Right'' makes a passable shot at sounding like Tallis (it's quite delightful even in its own right), although ''I Wanna Be Like You'' is more a generalized Latin-American than specifically Heitor Villa-Lobos. ''With a Smile and a Song'', ''Under the Sea'', ''Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?'' and ''When You Wish Upon a Star'' (can I really be writing this for
With good recording, fairly good playing (albeit with a somewhat limp-sounding ECO) and useful, 'young people's' annotation, this CD will make for a pleasant party-time diversion. As to bothering with it after Christmas, that's another matter. I suspect that by then, the jokes will have worn rather thin.
