From the bracing Nordic neo-classicism of Metamorphose, through the Bartokian incisiveness of Constellations, to the sonic and tonal richness of the Tributes and Fugitive Summer trilogies, the sound world is his alone. The wistful ‘Pastoral’, from the film score to Babette’s Feast, is a reminder that music does not have to be profound to be meaningful. Sympathetic performances throughout.'
