An hour of the young Salzburgian Mozart, full of ideas and exploring instrumental interchanges at a great pace. There are several fine soloists in Jean-Francois Paillard's group and there is some demanding listening here if you extract your money's worth. The recording is nicely judged in a rather lively acoustic which is inclined to hang on to the horns and trumpets. The strings have deliciously light touch, well captured here, but tend to be overrun by the lower brass tones at times. A charming disc to be sampled after many a trying day. '
