Author:
A luke-warm reception from the critics has done very little to damp the success of this Requiem. However much the record-buying public were advised that the work is derivative rather than original, the melody lines fragmented rather than memorable, so many of them voted with their cheque-books that the LP, and the seven-inch single featuring the boy treble Paul Miles-Kingston and soprano Sarah Brightman, both rose rapidly into the respective best-sellers lists.
Placido Domingo's contributions have the expected ringing conviction, and the choir and the orchestra are quite superb. Compact Disc sound quality is strong on clarity and impressively dynamic.'
