Langgaard withdrew his 'stage-symphony' Sinfonia interna (1915-6) after completing Antikrist. He recomposed parts of it until the 1940s and planned a shortened version, the basis for the present disc. Although experimental in many ways, the tonal language is not as radical as Music of the Spheres (1916-8; 9/97), being primarily Wagner and Strauss refracted through clean, Danish air. Performed here with spirit, there is much to enjoy. Recommended.'
