In selecting works by Mexican, Brazilian and Cuban composers for their ‘rhythmic essence and passion’, the young Canadian guest conductor with the Venezuelan orchestra has made some notable additions to the catalogue, such as Arturo Marquez’s compulsive Danzon No. 2, Nobre’s awesome Convergencias and an exciting Batuque by Oscar Lorenzo Fernandez. She secures brilliantly pungent playing and, even in the most heavily scored passages, a just internal balance. Strongly recommended, not least for its spectacular recorded quality.'
