Celebrating the soprano's new album 'End of my Days' in collaboration with Manchester Collective

For our video of the day, Ruby Hughes & Manchester Collective perform its own arrangement of 'Ulricht', a wunderhorn song that Mahler uses as an intermezzo between the scherzo and the finale in his 2nd Symphony.

Mahler spent 7 years writing this mammoth of a symphony, and if you've been to the cinema recently, you may recognise the finale from Bradley Cooper's portrayal of Bernstein in the 2023 film, 'Maestro'.

The inspiration for this album came about from Ruby Hughes’ first collaboration with the Manchester Collective during the first Covid lockdown of 2020. The programme of this recital was created with the intention of touring the UK and uplifting audiences at a time when the notions of mortality and isolation were particularly present.

'End Of My Days' is available now and can be heard below on Apple Music.
