The BBC Young Musician finalist will record her debut album with the label this year
Sony Classical has announced the exclusive signing of pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason. The partnership will begin with the recording of her debut recital album (to be released in 2025) which will feature a varied programme of works by Chopin, Debussy and Scriabin, as well as the lesser-known composers Margaret Bonds and Florence Price. Kanneh-Mason recorded Price’s Concerto in One Movement in 2023 which was reviewed by The Observer ‘Price could have no more persuasive an advocate’.
Jeneba Kanneh-Mason was a finalist in the 2018 BBC Young Musician at the age of 16, before making her London recital debut in 2020 where she performed Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto with the Philharmonia Orchestra.
Per Hauber, President of Sony Classical International expressed his feelings toward the new signing, saying ‘I am delighted to welcome Jeneba Kanneh-Mason to Sony Classical. We can’t wait to shape the next steps of Jeneba’s career together with her as her exclusive recording partner.’
Jeneba added ‘I am so happy and honoured to join the prestigious roster of artists at Sony Classical. I can’t remember a time when classical music wasn’t an integral part of my life, and I am a huge advocate for its positive influences and ability to really connect with such a wide range of people.
