BBC Radio 3 Unwind, a new 24/7 stream of calming classical music, launched on BBC Sounds on Monday 4 November at 6am. The new schedule accompanies listeners daily routines, with the aim to aid wellbeing and help them escape the pressures of life.

Each of the new programmes across the schedule is curated by the presenters and producers and spans centuries from the medieval to the present day. The stream will also include content promoting focus and relaxation, with contributions from guest experts and academics in fields such as psychology, neuroscience, and mental health. The schedule will focus on music by living composers, with particular attention on those from the UK. It will also show BBC Introducing artists as well as live and specially recorded repertoire from the BBC Orchestra and Choirs and Radio 3’s New Generation Artists.

BBC Radio 3 Unwind presenter line up includes Edith Bowman, Dr Sian Williams, Niall Breslin and AFRODEUTSCHE, who join Radio 3 and BBC Sounds presenters Ólafur Arnalds, Sara Mohr-Pietsch, Hannah Peel and Izzy Judd.

Sam Jackson, Controller of BBC Radio 3 and BBC Proms, said: ‘Radio 3 Unwind will create a space for respite and escape, presented by our line-up of world-class broadcasters. As our lives become ever more consumed by technology, deadlines and stress, the music on BBC Radio 3 Unwind offers the perfect antidote, whilst also supporting new and emerging talent – and showcasing music that simply isn’t heard anywhere else.’
