Composer Pam Wedgwood to be recognised for her contribution to piano education

Pam Wedgwood is to be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by The Art of Piano Education Awards. The ceremony will take place at London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 17 and will present five awards: ‘Best classical piano repertoire book or series’, ‘Best contemporary piano repertoire book or series’, ‘Best piano method book or series’, ‘Best educational publication’ and’ Lifetime Achievement Award’.

With over 200 educational books written and being featured on many examination syllabuses, Pam Wedgwood has cemented herself as a household name for music teachers over the last 35 years. Her series Up-Grade! for piano has sold over 1.5 million copies with her catalogue having been printed in multiple languages.

Andrew Eales, President of the Art of the Piano Education Awards says: ‘Pam’s music has enjoyed huge and continuing popularity over several decades, inspiring a generation of pianists and educational composers. Having myself delighted in regularly teaching her music for more than thirty years, it is wonderful to have now an opportunity to recognise and applaud Pam’s immeasurable influence on piano education in this country and beyond.’
