Modartt describe their award-winning virtual instrument Pianoteq as the fourth-generation piano, following the acoustic piano, the electro-acoustic piano, and more recently the sampled piano. Pianoteq is a modelled piano that you can install on your computer, available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It can be used both in standalone mode and as an instrument plug-in. Towards the end of the last year Modartt released Pianoteq 8, with a new user interface, and have now announced bringing this software to handheld devices with Pianoteq for iOS.
