Watch: Sebastian Knauer plays Schubert and Bach

An exclusive Schubert performance and a fascinating new Bach project explored

Pianist Sebastian Knauer is no stranger to Gramophone's reviews pages, his recording of Mendelssohn's solo piano music was an Editor's Choice in March 2009, but earlier than that his recording of solo Schubert, including the Impromptus, was an Editor's Choice in June 2007, with Bryce Morrison noting the Knauer is a 'pianist whose playing is a marvel of robust eloquence and unfaltering mastery, free from all distracting caprice or idiosyncrasy.' Knauer was in London this week, so we took the opportunity to ask him to play a little something for Gramophone's readers. And he played Schubert's Third Impromptu, beautifully:
