Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius on period instruments won this year's Choral category

A pioneering period-instrument recording of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius from Anna Stéphany, Nicky Spence, Andrew Foster-Williams, Gabrieli Roar, Polish National Youth Choir, Gabrieli Consort and Players, and Paul McCreesh won the 2024 Gramophone Choral Award.

In an interview filmed on the evening of the Gramophone Classical Music Awards, McCreesh talks about the creative process behind the album and the critical importance of an inclusive approach to involving children in performances and recordings of classical music.
