A fascinating look at the work of master craftsman Robin Aitchison, as he makes a new cello

Robin Aitchison is a cello maker who specialises in recreating great classical instruments by Stradivari, Montagnana and Guadagnini. In this beautifully produced film, he shares his passion for his craft, his endless pursuit of perfection, and gives insights into the great skill and dedication that it takes to produce a new cello from scratch.

The film features as its soundtrack a new recording by Nicolas Altstaedt and the Academy of Ancient Music of the second movement of Haydn's Symphony No 13. It is directed by Jessie Rodger and has been produced by the Academy of Ancient Music and The Space as part of their 'Breaking Down Baroque' series.
