Ora Singers mark Spem in Alium's 450th anniversary

The unusual past months have seen many ensembles perform in some imaginative locations, but few could be as dramatic - visually or acoustically - as Tate Modern's vast Turbine Hall. Last night, Ora Singers, conducted by Suzi Digby, marked the 450th anniversary of Thomas Tallis's 40-part extraordinary motet Spem in Alium with a performance of the work, as well as a contemporary response to it from James MacMillan, whose new work Vidi aquam was premiered. Between them they also performed Ave Verum Corpus by William Byrd, also accompanied by a modern response to it from Roderick Williams.
