Oxford Bach Soloists perform in New College Chapel in an exclusive preview of their Easter Festival

As Oxford Bach Soloists prepare to host their first ever Easter Festival this upcoming Easter weekend, our Video of the Day is a beautiful preview film of them performing the Sinfonia and the first Chorus from one of Bach’s Easter Cantatas, Christ lag in Todesbanden (BWV4).

The Easter Festival will consist of five hours of new recordings of the St John Passion, the Easter Oratorio and the Easter Cantatas over the long weekend, taking place in Oxford’s Christ Church Cathedral and New College Chapel. The performances will be streamed at 3pm across Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday, but will be available to view on demand until April 30.

Tom Hammond-Davies, Artistic Director of Oxford Bach Soloists, said: ‘We are thrilled to be broadcasting directly to your screens from these magnificent buildings, from which centuries of stunning music has been heard.’

Tickets are priced from £10, while a four-day festival pass is available for £35; for more information, visit Oxford Bach Soloists' website
