Sir Simon Rattle and the LSO – live from the Barbican in London
The LSO and its music director Simon Rattle recently performed Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique alongside John Adams's Harmonielehre at the Barbican in London. The concert was livestreamed and are now available (broken up into movements) on the LSO's YouTube channel.
Rattle and the LSO recently released a new recording of La damnation de Faust, which was reviewed in the May issue by Mike Ashman, who noted: 'Of course these are not the players who appeared under Pierre Monteux in 1962, or (one assumes) mostly under Colin Davis in 1973, but the work and its style – especially the virtuosity and panache required – have clearly remained in the orchestra’s collective memory.'
