Today's Video of the Day is taken from United Strings of Europe's new album, 'Renewal', and is an arrangement of Joanna Marsh's In Winter's House.

Julian Azkoul, Artist Director of the Ensemble, explains the background to the piece: 'In May 2020 I came across a video of Joanna Marsh's In Winter's House performed by Tenebrae Choir in its original version for five singers (TTBarBB) and was moved by the beautiful setting of Jane Draycott's poem and the hopeful message it contains. Joanna's work has a timeless quality that references older idioms, and I felt that the lilting pace and harmonic richness could work well for string orchestra. My arrangement became the opening track of the United Strings of Europe's second album 'Renewal', tying in nicely with the theme of the other works on the album by Caroline Shaw, Osvaldo Golijov and Felix Mendelssohn.'
