Exclusive footage from the recording sessions, featuring the Adagio from Elgar's Cello Concerto

Gabriel Schwabe's new recording with the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and conductor Christopher Ward features two British cello concertos: Elgar's evergreen concerto (written and premiered in 1919) is paired with Bridge's Oration (Concerto elegiaco for cello and orchestra), which was written in 1930 and premiered in 1936. Both works are responses to the horrors of the First World War.

Today's Video of the Day sees Schwabe recording the Adagio Third Movement of Elgar's Cello Concerto:

The new recording of the Elgar and Bridge cello concertos is out now, released by Naxos. For more information, visit: naxos.com
