Roderick Williams sings a never-before-recorded arrangement by the composer himself

As we get closer to the anniversary month of Ralph Vaughan Williams, a beautiful addition to the composer's celebrations arrives from Orchid Classics. The Five Mystical Songs are often heard in performances with piano/organ or symphony orchestra, but have never before been recorded in this neglected version made by RVW himself for voice, choir, piano and strings. For Orchid's album, Roderick Williams joins the London Choral Sinfonia and conductor Michael Waldron – and you can watch a performance of Easter, below.

The above performance appears on Colourise, a new album on Orchid Classics featuring music by Vaughan Williams, Lennox Berkeley and Peter Warlock - a recording which marks the label's 200th release. You can enjoy it below, via Apple Music.
