Daniel Reuss is on the podium alongside soloists Carolyn Sampson, Marianne Beate Kielland, Thomas Walker and David Wilson-Johnson

The live performance below of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis is captivating. There is a camera placed directly in front of conductor Daniel Reuss, so it is particularly worth watching for those interested in conducting technique. The choir here is Cappella Amsterdam, and they and Reuss have made several recordings together, perhaps most notably of Frank Martin's Golgotha, which was shortlisted for a Gramophone Award in 2010. The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century have a long history of Beethoven performance, indeed there collection of the symphonies under conductor Frans Brüggen made the Gramophone Awards shortlist in 2011.

The quartet of soloists includes Carolyn Sampson, who won a Gramophone Award in 2015 for her recital ‘A French Baroque Diva’
