This year's weeklong Trondheim Chamber Music Festival ran from September 17 to 23, with first-rate performances from the Ebène Quartet, Tine Thing Helseth, Anne-Sophie Mutter and the Trondheim Soloists, plus Sir Peter Maxwell Davies as composer-in-residence and advanced masterclass and performance programmes for students.

Perhaps the most visually spectacular event was Mekatonia, a show-stopping display of music and visuals, performed with acrobatic grace on the high-wire 'strings' of a giant cello by Cirka Teater and Alpaca Ensemble in Trondheim's outdoor Dokkparken. The combination of street theatre, installation art and musical performance featured a score by acclaimed jazz musician Eirik Hegdal, written specifically for the event.
