In 2013, Silent Opera begins its three-year project to stage innovative performances of Monteverdi's trilogy of operas - staring with L'Orfeo, based upon the Greek legend of Orpheus.

In the production, the company continues to bring together a unique mixture of theatre, technology and classical music. Audiences are provided with wireless headphones, which blend live singing and selected instrumentals with a pre-recorded orchestra. Audiences are encouraged to move freely through the performance space to experience the story as they wish.

Following successful productions of Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Puccini's La bohème, Silent Opera was awarded a bursary from the Sky Arts Ignition: Futures Fund with which to stage L'Orfeo. Silent Opera founder and artistic director Daisy Evans recently wrote a L'Orfeo blog for Gramophone about the new production.

Performances of L'Orfeo take place between January 24 and February 10 at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London's Docklands area. Visit Silent Opera for full details.
