Around 80 young people aged between 9 and 11, who are current members of the Royal Opera House’s Chance to Dance programme and Youth Opera Company, performed a unique double bill of dance and music/singing in the Linbury Studio Theatre on May 31 and June 2 - the first time the two companies have shared a performance.
Royal Ballet soloists Kristen McNally and Thomas Whitehead adapted a special version of choreographer Kenneth MacMillan’s ballet The Rite of Spring, while the Youth Opera Company presented a new work, Gone Fishing - a narrative arrangement of works by composers including Monteverdi, Handel, Mozart, Rossini, Britten and John Adams by composer Richard Taylor.
