Niccolò Paganini, the celebrated virtuoso violinist, was probably the most famous soloist to have ever lived. He was quite possibly one of the most controversial too, not to mention wealthiest (in one season alone he earned enough to buy his weight in gold). In his new film Paganini’s Daemon: A Most Enduring Legend, director Christopher Nupen –  widely acclaimed for his skill at using film to communicate the essence of music-making – explores the musician's life, using drawings, paintings and caricatures to tell the soloist's story.
