Orchestrapaedia, a co-commission by the Welsh Sinfonia and Cheltenham Music Festival, receives its world premiere on April 18, 2013 at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, conducted by Mark Eager. The Welsh Sinfonia also perform Orchestrapaedia at the Cheltenham Music Festival on Sunday July 7, 2013.

Mirroring Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, the new work by Roxanna Panufnik gives each instrument individual human characteristics, brought to life by colourful drawings created by Roxanna’s brother, the artist Jem Panufnik. These will be projected as stills during the performances in Cardiff and Cheltenham.
