Monday, October 29, 2012

Technics have introduced four new Compact Disc players, ranging in price from £139.95 to £229.95. All use Technics established MASH single-bit D/A converter system with a 32-times oversampling digital filter and these latest machines claim a still better small signal level performance, resulting in an enhanced definition of ambient information. The base model SL-PG320A (£139.95) is described as remote control-ready and has a range of basic controls including random track selection, repeat and auto-cue. The SL-PG426A (£159.95) adds 10-key track direct access on its supplied remote control, the facility duplicated on its fascia. It also has a headphones socket with level control. The SLPG520A has in addition to these features a studio-type shuttle search knob (allowing easy 'on the fly' to and fro searching at up to 76 times normal playing speed), specially selected circuit components and aluminium front and side panels. The SL-PS620A (£229.95) has a centre tray mechanism with a damped, sprung laser transport and dual secondary windings on its mains transformer (to help prevent the control circuit noise from impinging upon the wanted audio signal. It also includes an optical digital output for use with outboard D/A converters or amplifiers with a digital input.
