The Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium has confirmed the development of a new multi-million pound building which will form a backdrop to its original Art Deco building. Designed by architects Olivier Bastin, Sébastien Cruyt and landscape architect Jean Noël Capart, the development will include a state-of-the-art concert hall with first-rate acoustics, an artists’ global village, 20 residential studios (each with its own grand piano and sleeping platform), two additional music studios and re-development of the park.
Now 75 years old, the Chapel offers a unique residential programme for its students, and houses a number of artists-in-residence, including Maria João Pires, Gary Hoffman, Augustin Dumay and the Artemis Quartet.
