For 12 years now the prestigious scheme has offered young performers two years of broadcast, festival, recording and concert opportunities. Alumni include violinists Lisa Batiashvili and Janine Jansen, The Belcea Quartet, cellist Natalie Clein, percussionist Colin Currie and pianists Paul Lewis and Steven Osborne.

The new intake join the current musicians on the two year scheme, who are violinists Veronika Eberle and Alexandra Soumm, the Escher Quartet, cellist Nicolas Altstaedt, pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, tenor Ben Johnson and jazz artist Shabaka Hutchings. You can listen to Benjamin Grosvenor talk about his experience of being on the BBC New Generation Artist Scheme as part of the latest Gramophone Podcast.
