Once again, the classical record industry has delivered! A constant stream of recordings continues unabated that bears witness to the creativity, imagination, flair, tenacity, style and prodigious talent of musicians, A&R directors and labels’ creative and editorial teams the world over. And once again, the work of the major labels (diminishing in number by the year, it seems) and independents has caught our imagination and propelled 45 recordings into the Second Round, the discs – three per category – from the winners have emerged.

The winners will be revealed at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards on September 27 and here on the Gramophone website.

Voting for Artist of the Year 2012 … closes on August 27!

Every year, the Gramophone Classical Music Awards celebrate an artist at the height of his or her powers. For a number of years now we've opened the decision up to you, the Gramophone readers - offering you a shortlist of ten artists to choose from, musicians who our editorial team really feel have contributed something special to classical music throughout the past year.

Previous winners have included such illustrious, energising and remarkable performers as conductor Gustavo Dudamel (last year's winner), mezzo Joyce DiDonato, the choir The Sixteen (our first ensemble winner) and violinist Hilary Hahn. Who will receive the accolade this year?
