Benedetti records the first movement of Glazunov's Violin Concerto for Decca Classics

In the video below, Nicola Benedetti plays the first movement of Glazunov's Violin Concerto in the studio with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and conductor Kirill Karabits. The film was made at the recording sessions for Benedetti's latest album, which features Shostakovich's First Concerto alongside the Glazunov.

Charlotte Gardner interviewed Benedetti for Gramophone's July issue, and in the course of a fascinating conversation, Benedetti explained why she feels so passionately about this concerto: ‘It’s a very useful piece. It’s very, “Let me show you this, let me show you that”. It’s written as a single movement but there’s a very distinct, youthful-sounding post-cadenza last movement, and his melodic capacity is just phenomenal.’
