BBC Radio 3 has unveiled this year’s new entrants to its prestigious New Generation Artists scheme, which for the first time includes a classical guitarist.

Soloists – and in some cases ensembles – spend two years on the scheme, developing their experience of both live and recorded performance through chamber recordings, concerts and opportunities to collaborate with fellow New Generation Artists. Alumni from previous years have included such high profile artists as violinists Lisa Batiashvili and Janine Jansen, The Belcea Quartet, cellist Natalie Clein, percussionist Colin Currie and pianists Paul Lewis and Steven Osborne. Radio 3 has also launched a series of commissions which will involve New Generation Artists, from composers including Simon Holt, Geoffrey Burgon, Augusta Read Thomas, Karin Rehnqvist, Mark-Anthony Turnage and Alexander Goehr.
