Vladimir Ashkenazy to conduct Nimrod Borenstein premiere

Composer Nimrod Borenstein’s The Big Bang and Creation of the Universe, Op 52 is to be performed at De Montfort Hall, Leicester on February 23, 2013 by the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy alongside works by Mozart and Mahler. Originally premiered in 2009 by the Oxford Philomusica, the work is one of a number of Borenstein’s compositions due to be performed next year, among them the world premiere of If you will it, it is no dream, Op 58, at the Royal Festival Hall on June 13, 2013, also featuring the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Ashkenazy.
Borenstein has composed a range of vocal, orchestral, chamber and solo instrumental works, including his Shell Adagio (published by Boosey & Hawkes), which has been performed by 16 different orchestras.
