VOCES8 – filmed in the Nikolai Kirche in Plön (Schleswig-Holstein) – perform Wilbye’s atmospheric ‘Draw on Sweet Night’

‘Draw on Sweet Night’ comes from John Wilbye’s Second Set of Madrigals of 1609, published when the composer was 35. It has become one of Wilbye’s most cherished works and has been recorded by the likes of I Fagiolini (read the review), The Tallis Scholars and The Consort of Musicke. For a particularly captivating recording, try the account from the album 'Melancholia' by Les Cris de Paris and Geoffroy Jourdain, which was shortlisted for a Gramophone Award in 2019 (read the review).
