Today's Video of the Day is courtesy of composer and pianist Sebastian Oswald. Here he performs his Invention (grounded) No 1 a modern reimagining of J S Bach's C major Invention No 1. The composer describes the project: 'I have made very minor changes to Bach’s work, but gradually they add up and become something refreshed.'

The inventions have been infused with two other hallmarks of the Baroque style, Oswald has superimposed the melody over a ground bass (hence the 'grounded') and retuned the piano to 435Hz – the pitch, scholars believe, is more representative of that of Bach's time.
