Internet phenomenon Valentina Lisitsa has signed to Decca Classics. The Ukrainian pianist will record her London concert debut at the Royal Albert Hall on June 19 for the label, to be released digitally on June 25 and on CD on July 3. Lisitsa has followed a unique path to success, launching her career via social media, without initially signing to a tour promoter or record company. Her YouTube channel has been viewed 43 million times and has 52,000 subscribers.

‘Valentina is a truly unique artist,’ said Decca Classics managing director Paul Moseley. ‘Her YouTube fame is genuine and well-deserved, and we are proud to be working with her as she reaches out to huge numbers of classical fans in a modern and very immediate way.’

Lisitsa’s Royal Albert Hall concert will be streamed live via YouTube and fans will be invited to vote online to decide what she will play. The pianist has already performed at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York and at Vienna’s Musikverein. She has worked with the Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and Pittsburgh symphonies under such conductors as Manfred Honeck and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.
