Turner Sims, Southampton, is the latest venue to announce a return to live music-making for the first time since lockdown, with an online performance tonight from pianist Paul Lewis. The former Gramophone Recording of the Year winner will perform a programme featuring Haydn, Beethoven and Schubert.

'After months of silence it’s wonderful to bring music back into the venue with such a special artist albeit without audiences,' said Kevin Appleby, Concert Hall Manager.

It’s also the latest venue to embrace the idea of charging tickets for online recitals, recognising the necessity of ensuring artists and venues can receive income for their work during what continues to be an uncertain time and in which digital performance continues to play a vital and ever-growing role. Tickets cost £10, and the concert will then be available to watch for 48 hours. To find out more, and to buy tickets, visit the Turner Sims website

It is hoped that Lewis will then return to Turner Sims, of which Gramophone is a media partner, on May 11, 2021 for a public concert.
