A new website has been launched to provide a centralised international market for stringed instruments. The Amati International Directory features hundreds of fine violins, violas, cellos, double basses and bows, uploaded by dealers and makers. Buyers can easily search the register by instrument, maker and dealer, and find detailed information about individual instruments.

The website currently represents 27 makers and 44 dealers, including Peter Prior and Sons, and JP Guivier, and is run by James and Sarah Buchanan, both formerly employed by Christie’s auctioneers.

Amati is offering free accounts for dealers and makers until January 2014. Thereafter an annual fee will be payable. For details see www.amati.com
