Listen to Gramophone's free 'Schubert's Last Year' playlist on Spotify

To coincide with Gramophone's March issue (and, by chance, with BBC Radio 3's forthcoming Schubert Marathon), we've created a Spotify playlist on our new Gramophone magazine profile devoted to Schubert's last year, 1828.

In the March issue, Richard Wigmore writes about the extraordinary stream of works to flow from Schubert's pen as his life drew to a close: three piano sonatas, two of the greatest works for piano duo, the Mass in E flat, the String Quintet and much, much more… He talks to some of today's leading Schubertians including Alfred Brendel, Mitsuko Uchida, Christoph Prégardien and members of the Belcea Quartet, many of whom feature in our playlist.

(We realise that Spotify is not available in all territories, and we apologise if you are unable to listen – but there is also a lot of music available to listen to for free on the Gramophone Player.)
