The first new Specialist Classical Chart of 2012 is now online - with the New Year's Day Concert from 2012 entering at No 3. With Mariss Jansons conducting the Vienna Philharmonic, the annual institution has been speedily released by Sony Classical. (We offer you a review by Andrew Lamb on the day of the disc's release.)
Other new entries include Rousell's Le festin de l'araignée, from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Stéphane Denève on Naxos, and Reger's Violin Concerto, performed by Tanja Becker-Bender on Hyperion (the latest volume in the label's Romantic Violin Concerto series).
Miloš Karadaglić, however, continues the dominance of the chart which saw him win the Specialist Classical Chart Award back in October, at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards 2011, with his debut guitar recital on DG.
